More than 100 million Americans, or 9.4 percent of the population, are living with diabetes or prediabetes. This incurable disease is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. and claims over 2 million lives each year. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) are committed to finding a cure for diabetes and, J & B Medical is excited to support the ADA in the annual Tour de Cure marathon.
The marathon will raise funds and awareness for those living with diabetes. It includes a cycling route and a 5K, where participants can choose to either run, walk or ride. This year’s event will be hosted at a new location – Belle Isle Park – where the theme is Rock ‘n’ Roll. The goal is to raise $400,000 for the charity to continue providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. The ADA funds prevention and cure research, delivers services to communities, provides credible information and advocates on behalf of diabetics and their families. Supporters of the ADA are encouraged to participate in the Tour de Cure by starting a team and recruiting family members, friends, co-workers etc. Those who want to help but cannot participate in the marathon are welcome to donate.
50 people from the J & B Medical Wixom location signed up to participate in the Tour de Cure. Our employees have stepped up to be team captains and continue to encourage their co-workers to join the fun! The Troy location is hosting a Tour de Cure kickoff in hopes of fostering a J & B Medical team of over 100 people.
J & B Medical is a family-owned company that advocates for purpose and possibilities in the medical field and beyond. We are happy to support the Tour de Cure and join in the fight to find a cure for diabetes. Click here to read more about the ADA.
